This week's 21 Things You Might Not Know About Me, features Brian Cole.  Brian submits a Sunday article that is published every Sunday on all of our Wire's; DrydenWire.com, SawyerWire.com, and BurnettWire.com.  We 1st had a chance to sit down with Brian about a year ago for a story with DrydenWire featured writer, Diane Dryden, in an article titled: "The Cost of Being Cool" (you can read that HERE). So whether or not if know him, here are 21 things you might not know about Brian Cole.

  1. I never graduated school. I only got as far as completing the 6th grade. While in 7th grade I started getting locked up in juvenile detention facilities.
  2. I joined the military (Army Reserves) at a fresh 18 years old and since you had to have a high school diploma or GED, I went to a tech school and studied for 2 weeks, took my GED test and passed.
  3. I never finished Basic Training (Combat Engineer at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.) as I was given a General Discharge under honorable conditions because I lied on my entry forms about not having a felony as a juvenile.
  4. I HATE math!
  5. The only one class I ever liked at school and got an A at was a Sci-Fic class in 6th grade.
  6. I have always been an avid reader of sci-fi and fantasy. I don't read so much of it anymore, but reading is one of my favorite things!
  7. My first car was a 1969 Dodge Charger which my Uncle gave me on my 16th birthday.
  8. I have owned 4 Dodge Chargers in my life but won't own one now because I would probably end up back in trouble!!
  9. When I was young and lived in the country I loved helping animals and raising animals. One of the unique pets we had for a while was a baby beaver we found alone in the creek we lived on. We raised it for about 6 months before someone told on us and we had to bring it to a zoo where it died just 3 months later.
  10. I have always been an animal lover. As a matter of fact, before becoming a Christ follower I was a radical animal activist and involved with underground activist groups.
  11. I was a co-manager at the Chippewa County Humane Association for almost a year. Before I started working there I was totally against the spaying and neutering of animals. However, I had a paradigm shift real fast when I witnessed first hand what happens when you don't spay and neuter animals!
  12. My Dad was involved in tractor pulls with riding lawnmowers, and when he got me involved I typically won more trophies than him. I loved it!
  13. My dad put me through scuba diving school at the age of 14 and am PADI certified. The last time I dove was in 1996.
  14. My favorite music is Christian metal and metalcore but also love Christian rap and reggae.
  15. I try to make at least 1 or 2 metal concerts a year and am in the mosh pits most of the time. Even at 52 years old I'm still able to hang!
  16. I have been a drummer since grade school. I started out in marching bands, went to jazz band, and a foster family I was with for awhile got me private lessons on the drumset. I had my own band for a while as a teenager called "Pegasus," was involved with many bands while in prison, but gave it up for about 13 years. I picked it back up again when I started going to church and played on worship teams. After I saw an acoustic band playing one day, this guy had a wood box he sat on and played like a drum. Though it was cool. Found it 's called a Cajon and have been playing them ever since.
  17. I have 3 motorcycles and riding is my all time favorite thing to do.
  18. I was a boxer on and off for a few years as a juvenile. I have a perfect record, undefeated! (I only had one match which I won). I was at a weight class where it was hard to find someone to put me up against, so I mostly was a guy people sparred with.
  19. I received my Pastoral licensing through Forest Lakes Districts (Evangelical Free Church) and am currently going through the ordination process through Converge Great Lakes.
  20. Not one ministry that I am involved in, including that of Pastor, did I ever pursue.
  21. I love people regardless of where they are at in life, what they've done, or what their lifestyle is. I Love Jesus Christ and just want the love of Him to flow through me into all others. My biggest passion is working with, helping out, and loving on those who have messed up bad in their life and think there's no hope. I am a hope dealer and want to bring that message to all.
