An arrest was issued in Sawyer County Circuit Court on March 5, 2018, for Brandon Coerper, of Stone Lake, WI. Coerper failed to appear in Court for a scheduled hearing regarding drug and firearm criminal charges recently filed against him, and the Court authorized an arrest warrant, according to online circuit court records.

A criminal complaint filed against Coerper on February 7, 2018, states that a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped Coerper’s vehicle on January 26, 2018, for defective lights. Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Tribal Police and the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the stop.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brandon Coerper. A male passenger in the vehicle initially provided a false name, however, was recognized by the LCO Tribal Police Officer and later identified as Michael Denasha, also of Stone Lake, WI.

Denasha allegedly stated that he had given a false name due to the fact that he knew he had active arrest warrants. Denasha was placed under arrest for obstruction for providing false information to an officer.

Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit responded to the scene of the traffic stop and the K9 alerted on the vehicle which led to a search of the vehicle.

The criminal complaint goes on to state that when officers searched the vehicle, they located an uncased, loaded Sig Sauer P938 9MM pistol and a box of 9MM ammunition underneath the driver’s seat. A record check had already confirmed that Coerper had previously been convicted of a felony and so he was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Coerper was also placed under arrest.

Officers ran a check of the serial number of the pistol and discovered that it had been reported as stolen out of St. Paul, MN, according to the criminal complaint.

Further searching of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of Marijuana, Heroin, and 2 plastic bags containing an unidentified white powdery substance. The criminal complaint states that the unknown white substance will be submitted to the Wisconsin State Crime Lab for testing.

A digital scale and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle.

Coerper is facing charges of Class G Felony Possess Firearm-Convicted of a Felony, Class I Felony Possession of THC (2nd+ Offense), Class I Felony Possession of Narcotic Drugs (Heroin), Misdemeanor Concealing Stolen Property, and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

Online circuit court records indicate that Coerper was scheduled to appear on March 5 for a Court hearing and after he did not appear, the Court issued a warrant for his arrest. Anyone with information about Coerper’s whereabouts can contact the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office at: 715-634-4858.

Denasha is charged with Misdemeanor Obstructing an Officer stemming from this traffic stop. He also has pending felony charges for Class F Felony Manufacture/Deliver Amphetamine in Sawyer County Circuit Court filed in a separate case. Details of that case are not known to SawyerWire.com at this time.  In another case filed in Washburn County Circuit Court, Denasha is charged with Misdemeanor Theft of Movable Property and Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property. Denasha is scheduled to appear again in Sawyer County Circuit Court later this month on all his criminal charges.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
