Birkie's International Bridge Is Up and Ready for the Super Bowl!
From Friday, Jan. 26 for 10 days up to the Super Bowl, Feb. 4., will be an epic free fan festival called Super Bowl Live presented by Verizon, and Hayward’s very own American Birkebeiner will play a huge role in the event.
The 10-day festival will include free concerts and other highlights, but one of the main features is the American Birkebeiner International Bridge, which spans over Hwy 63 in downtown Hayward during the weekend of the largest North American ski race.
Super Bowl Live’s website states, “Cross-country skiing, skijoring and tubing are just a few of the activities that visitors can witness when the American Birkebeiner International Bridge comes to Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon. Spanning almost 200 feet, the American Birkebeiner International Bridge will be constructed on Nicollet Mall over 9th Street for the 10-day free and open to the public Super Bowl festival, providing 1 million Super Bowl visitors with a flare of the Bold North.
“Thanks to American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation for providing their one-of-a-kind bridge for our event!” the site states.
