Cable Chamber hosts Annual Christmas in Cable

The Cable Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual Christmas in Cable event this weekend kicking off with the Scandinavian Christmas Dinner at Lakewoods Resort on Friday night, continuing on Saturday with Santa, a huge craft fair, Christmas Cookie Bazaar and shopping specials at local stores.

The weekend holiday celebration wraps up on Sunday with CARE Christmas at Garmisch Resort at 4:30 p.m. A $15 entry fee includes one glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage and appetizers. There will be basket raffles, a silent auction and a gift card tree. All proceeds benefit CARE and the event is co-sponsored by the Hayward Community Credit Union.

The Scandinavian Christmas Dinner on Friday night features, “a traditional menu of authentic Scandinavian favorites such as Danish meatballs over butter noodles, honey cured Salmon, braised beef with cabbage and even the love it or hate it Lutefisk. Try a dozen different salads and old world breads including the famous Smorrebrod. Then enjoy all the scrumptious desserts like Krumkake, lefse and more. Truly a holiday treat,” the Chamber’s announcement states.

An Art & Craft fair will take place on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Living Hope Community Church.

The Christmas Cookie Bazaar will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church from 9 to 1:00 p.m. The Chamber said there will be cookies by the pound, lefse wraps, jams and jellies.

The Cable UCC Church will also have a sale from 9 to 2 p.m. They will have gently used Christmas items: decorations, table linens, dishes, books, and Christmas sweaters will be sold to benefit the Cable Food Shelf and the Brick Ministries. Refreshments will be available.

Breakfast with Santa will take place at Lakewoods Resort at 9:30 a.m.

“It’s a special pancake breakfast for all the little boys and girls on Santa's Good List,” the Chamber said. “Santa will arrive at 9:30 to greet and have his picture taken with the children. Pictures taken compliments of Lakewoods Resort. After seeing Santa or while waiting, parents and kids are invited to take a hayride around Lakewoods Resort. Maybe even stop by "Grandma's House" for cookies & hot cocoa.”

Redbery Books will host "Redbery Friends & Family" sale, giving a 15% discount storewide, free Redbery bookmarks with a purchase and a drawing every hour for a free book (need not be present to win).

Whispering Pines Gift & Gallery will have sales throughout the store and Whispering Pines Outlet. There will be a close out sale of the Christmas Attic, ornaments and décor in the Christmas Attic only. The shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
