A Hayward teen, Jonathan Martin, is the proud recipient of the fourth annual Paul Bunyan Service Above Self Award, given to a person in the community who goes above and beyond to serve the people within Congressman Sean Duffy’s 7th Congressional District.

“There are individuals in communities throughout Wisconsin who work tirelessly to make their communities a better place- without any fanfare. They serve others simply because they are driven to improve the lives around them, and are ‘larger than life,’” said Congressman Duffy. “One such individual is Hayward's Jonathan Martin. Only 17, Jonathan volunteers at the Hayward Community Food Shelf, Special Olympics competitions, and the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation. On top of that, he's doing great in school and is an incredible piano player!

“I recently got the chance to meet Jonathan over a Google hangout, and let me tell you: this is one awesome kid,” Congressman Duffy said. You can view part of that conversation here

Hayward resident and Duffy’s Northern Wisconsin Representative, Jim Miller, said, “This young man is a warrior. It should also be mentioned that he ran the lumberjack 5k in full logging gear carrying a real chainsaw and still whipped most everyone in the field. Congrats Jonathan!”

Rep. Duffy said, “Congratulations, Jonathan, on receiving the Paul Bunyan Service Above Self Award!”
