Operation Frosty Paws is having it’s first-time fundraising event, the Quad County K9 Fundraiser Ice Fishing Contest and Winter Olympics which will take place on January 20 at Cheers Bar & Grill at Tagalong Golf Course on the Red Cedar Lake in Birchwood, Wis.

Deputy Dennis Nelson of the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office said the event will start at Noon and there will be a lot of activities for the whole family. Nelson said there will be kid’s games, K9 demonstrations, the ice fishing contest and music by Chris Kroeze.

Although there will be a lot of raffle prizes at the event, Nelson said the main part of the fundraiser is their Raffle Tickets sold at $100 each with a maximum of 600 tickets being sold.

The drawing will be held at the event on January 20 at 6:00 p.m., but winners do not need to present. There are 37 cash prize winners with a first place prize of $7,500. If anyone would like to support the K9 programs and take a chance at winning a big prize, contact Deputy Nelson or Sgt. Al-Moghrabi through their Facebook page Sawyer County K9 LTD.

There will also be raffle tickets for sale at the event for other prizes which include guns, tree stands, fishing equipment, weekend getaway packages and more.

The event is a fundraiser for the K9 programs in Sawyer, Washburn, Barron and Rusk Counties, and the Rice Lake and Spooner Police Departments. Funds raised will be used to support the K9 programs in all six agencies with training and purchasing gear.

Nelson said it will be a fun day and everyone is welcome to come to Cheers on January 20.
