In Memory of David Glenn Thomas
July 14, 1946 - February 17, 2018
David Glenn Thomas, age 71, of Hayward, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Spooner, WI. He was born July 14, 1946 in East Troy, WI, the son of Glenn and Esther (Schuldt) Thomas. He was united in marriage to Roxanne Therese Thomas on June 6, 1975 in Waukesha, WI.
David grew up in farming. He worked in forest logging and for the Town of Round Lake. He was a journeyman carpenter and worked in construction both for himself and later for Sjostrom Construction. For the past seven years he was employed by Walmart of Hayward.
He was an avid outdoorsman, often with a dog by his side, and enjoyed hunting and target shooting. He was a member of the Hayward Rod and Gun Club. He coached Hayward Youth Hockey at the Sports Center. David, along with many members of his family, volunteered for Fishing Has No Boundaries for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Roxanne of Hayward; his children, Daren (Cheri) Thomas of Plymouth, MN, Carissa Thomas of Denver, CO, Danielle Buschatz of Janesville, WI, Deana (Sam) Chiocca of Midlothian, VA, Dawn (Jeff) Dykes of Colonial Heights, VA; his grandchildren, Cassie, Jordon, Hunter, Isabella, Carson, Sydney, Gillian and Serenity; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Grayson and Averie; his sister, Phyllis (Bruce) Grafenauer of East Troy, WI; and his nephews, Jeff and Bobby (Sharon) Grafenauer of East Troy, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
All services and interment will be held privately.
Memorials in memory of David can be made to NF Midwest, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis. For the past 9 years, he was very supportive of Roxanne’s NF Team’s events and races, volunteered at several NF fundraising events himself, and often lovingly assumed the role of “running coach”.
