In Memory of David Lyman
March 15, 1938 - March 16, 2018
David Charles Lyman, age 80, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Water’s Edge Care Center in Hayward. He was born March 15, 1938 in Richmond, Virginia, to son of Carson F. and Elizabeth C. (Pomainville) Lyman. He was united in marriage to Barbara Gail Olson on January 29, 1966 in Janesville, WI.
Dave was raised in Bethesda, Maryland and attended Goddard College in Plainville, Vermont. He came to Hayward after college to work on his uncle's cranberry marsh and eventually purchased it. He ran the marsh for several years before selling it. Dave joined the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department where he served as a deputy.
While in Hayward he met his wife Barbara. Together they started Dave's Gun Shop in 1961 which served the area for many years.
He is survived by his brother Jerry Ross Lyman of St. Simons Island, Georgia; his daughter Susan (Bill) Byrnes of Vacaville, CA; his grandchildren, Deanna (Seth) Simmons and Mike Byrnes; his great-grandchildren, Alexa, Jameson, Ryder, Aroya, Kodah and Kayson; a niece Erin Samantha Lyman of Charlotte, NC, a nephew Derek R. Lyman of Thomaston, GA and his two boys Carson and Garrett.
In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Hayward Funeral Home, 15571 W County Highway B in Hayward. Interment will be held privately.
