In Memory of Margaret "Peg" Christ


April 19, 1925 - March 16, 2018

Margaret Ellen “Peg” Christ, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. She was born April 19, 1925 in Winter, WI, the daughter of Paul and Vivian (Walter) Edberg and grew up in Radisson, Wi. She was united in marriage to Robert Christ on July 24, 1948 in Radisson.

Peg was a lifelong Hayward resident and Hayward High School Home Economics teaching icon. She was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stout and she loved teaching and dedicated her nearly 40 year teaching career to making better cooks and citizens of thousands of Hayward students. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and loved gathering her family for her delicious home-cooked meals. She was also a very avid and talented bridge player into her amazing 90s, a recreational golfer, a longtime league bowler, and a nature lover. Peg was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hayward and a member of the Congregational Church Ladies Aid and the Hayward Hospital Auxiliary. Peg and Bob retired to their quiet Windigo Lake home where she loved feeding and watching her birds, squirrels, and raccoons. They also travelled with their RV around the country for a few years often taking their grandsons on these great adventures with them. They then spent most of the year in the wonderful Hayward Northwoods while wintering for over 25 years in Rockport, Tx.

Peg and Bob lived contentedly for the last 5 years under the wonderful, compassionate care at Water’s Edge Assisted Living and recently moved to the Water’s Edge Care Center. Peg is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Christ of Hayward; her children, Nancy Christ of Hayward, WI/ Minneapolis, MN; and Rick (Mary) Christ of Galveston, TX; her grandchildren, Brian (Andrea) Neisig of Rosemount, MN and Bo (Sara) Neisig of Eagan, MN; and her great-grandson, Ryan.

Peg is preceded in death by her son, Rod.

A celebration of Peg’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at First Congregational Church, 10601 Main Street in Hayward. Pastor Tim Hagberg will officiate. Interment will be held privately.

Gifts or donations may be directed in Peg’s memory to The Hayward Community Schools Educational Foundation for student scholarships.
