In Memory of Norbert J. Wilkozek
August 16, 1930 - November 23, 2017
Norbert J. Wilkozek, age 87, of Hayward, WI passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
Norbert Joseph was born August 16, 1930 in Chicago, IL the son of Joseph and Marie (Kopec) Wilkozek. He was raised in the Chicago area and graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago. Nory went to North Western University in Michigan before joining the U.S. Army. He served for two years before being honorably discharged. After his time in the military Nory moved to Hayward, WI where he and his father began Musky Joe’s Resort on the Chippewa Flowage. Nory built many of the cabins and buildings there. On July 7, 1956 Nory was joined in marriage to Genevieve Ada Brandt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward. Nory and Genevieve continued to operate the resort and Nory began work as an electrician. Nory was also very active with the Town Board of Hunter, Hayward Lakes Association and the Resort Owners Association. Nory and Genevieve still own the resort and were operating it this summer for long time customers. Nory enjoyed musky and walleye fishing and was an avid nature photographer who had the cover of the Visitor Guide with one of his photographs.
Nory is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevieve; two sons, Joe Wilkozek and David Wilkozek, both of Hayward; three granddaughters, Cassidy (Mark Isham) Wilkozek, Sarah Hibbard, Rochelle Wilkozek; two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; young daughter, Susan Wilkozek; and one sister, Lorraine Anderson.
A private family service will be held in the spring.
