Vernon B. Quagon Sr., age 73, of signor, WI died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home.

Vernon Bruce Quagon was born on November 29, 1944 in Hayward, WI the son of Henry and Minnie (Dandy) Quagon. He grew up in Signor then lived in Whitefish. In July 1963 he joined the Army National Guard then enlisted in the US Army in August 1966 serving until November 1970. Vernon served in Vietnam and was recipient of Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart in addition to Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter award. After the military he moved back to Signor and worked as a paramedic for LCO. He also worked as a game warden for the DNR in Sawyer County.

He is survived sons Vernon Quagon Jr, Bryon Butler; significant other Faye Ann White; and his niece Georgia.

Vern was preceded in death by his parent; daughter Chlorissa Butler; his brothers and sisters.

Tribal Funeral Rites will be held 9:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Lee “Obizaan” Staples will officiate. Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with military honors accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team and LCO AmVets Post #1998.Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20th at the funeral home.

Honorary casket bearers will be Vernon Martin, Leonard Quagon, Stanley Quagon and Lawrence Smith.

Casket bearers will be Brandon Quagon, Curtis Quagon, Daryl Quagon, Larry Quagon, Roy Quagon Sr. and Roy Quagon Jr.
